The importance of using a licensed & registered electrical contractor.

In this day and age, anyone with a few spare hours on their hands can learn a new skill via online platforms. It’s a scary world we live in. The reality is that to become a licensed and registered electrician or electrical contractor takes years of study, apprenticeship time and experience gaining.
The below article details what to scrutinize when choosing your electrician, be it for basic maintenance, COCs, new builds or solar. To the letter of the law, your electrical contractor needs to be a Single-Phase Tester, Installation Electrician or Master Installation Electrician. There is no such qualification as solar installer, this is not a recognized DOEL qualification. Solar installations need to be carried out by electricians who should also be registered with SAPVIA or AREP.
Ask your electrical contractor to produce their in date and valid certificate of registration with the DOEL.
